Brand Spotlight: Harcour

Okay. I feel like I’ve been living under a rock. I recently discovered a brand called Harcour thanks to social media. I didn’t know that this brand existed because I’ve never seen their product lines in my local tack shops or at the barn. I have a feeling they’re much more popular in Europe. But now that I know about Harcour, I'm a fan of their collection.

This French brand focuses on creating fashionable pieces that are also functional for the equestrian athlete. When scrolling through their website, it feels like you’re flipping through a magazine. Many of their pieces can seamlessly go from the street to the barn. Something that not every equestrian brand can pull off.

I decided that I would showcase some of my favourite items from their collection. Many of which have made it on my wish list. So let’s jump into this post!

Sangria Breeches

The Sangria breeches are my favourite item in the collection. So, I wanted to talk about them first!

I used to be someone who would only ride in jeans. I would have a few pairs of jeggings that I prefer to wear instead of riding in breeches. I have since converted to breeches. I have learnt that riding in clothing made for the equestrian sport actually helps improve my performance. It’s like working out in jeans. You can do it, but they won’t give you the same flexibility or support that leggings will. Which is why I’ve been on the market for jean breeches lately. And I think these might be the ones.

I love that they look like regular jeans. They have that little nod to traditional breeches by having that euro seat seam down the back on the pants, but they don’t have any knee pads. Which, personally, I like. I don’t particularly look for a pair of sticky breeches when I ride anyway.

The fact that the average person wouldn’t know that they’re breeches is a huge plus for me. That means that I could wear them all day. I could go run errands or I could walk my dog or I could even wear them to work and not have to change before I go to the barn. All I would have to do is put on my tall socks and my boots. Then I’m ready to go!

Toulon Pullover

Can you really go wrong with a pullover?

It’s such a versatile piece of clothing in anyone’s wardrobe. Again, you could easily wear this shirt while you’re doing your errands and then effortlessly show up to the barn without needing to change. Just slip on your boots, put on your helmet and you’re ready to go!

I especially like the texture of the Toulon pullover. There are so many basic v-neck shirts out there. This fabric just makes it look just that little more special. And it looks so comfortable too!

If you’re not a fan of the red colour, Harcour has options for you. The Toulon also comes in light blue, grey and navy.

I think there’s something to be said about basics. They can be used to help pull a whole outfit together. I could definitely see someone wearing this over a shirt (a show shirt or a blouse) with the collar unbuttoned. Or even pairing it with a vest or a jacket to stay stylish and warm on those cooler days. Not every item in a wardrobe has to be a statement piece. Sometimes, the most basic items paired together make the classiest outfits. And I think the Toulon is a nice option for both equestrians and non-equestrians alike.

Touquet Rain Jacket

The Touquet jacket is both waterproof and windproof. Perfect for those days where you might get stuck in the rain during a hack. Or bringing the horses in from their paddocks during a storm. Or even when you’re running from the barn door to your car!

The hood is removable. So if you’re not a fan of riding with a hood, Harcour has thought of you too. The collar can also be zipped up to give your neck some added protection during those windier days.

This jacket only comes in navy. Which, I’ll be honest, I would have liked to have more options. Not because the navy looks bad. Because I think it looks great. But I would also like to see it in colours like grey, red, and black. Just so that, as the consumer, I can choose which colour suits my style a little bit more.

I love the look of this jacket though. It’s nice to have a rain jacket that also looks fashionable. I think there are so many jackets on the market that are designed for its purpose and that’s it. But why can’t we have both style and function? Even when it’s pouring rain!

Tequila Breeches

You can’t go wrong with a classic pair of breeches.

The Tequila breeches come in both black and navy. So you can easily pair them with any colour shirt you choose.

Just like the Sangria jeans, the Tequila is a staple item in Harcour's product line. And I can see why. They’re so classic. They’re stretchy for when you’re out riding, but they could also easily be mistaken for a jegging on the street. Making them worth their price tag even more.

The euro seat stitching is both flattering and subtle. I also appreciate that Harcour embroidered their name along the front pocket. It’s not obnoxious. I’m not a fan of big logos on my clothing. I understand why brands might want their logos on their collections, but I also don’t want to feel like a walking advertisement. I think that Harcour’s approach was tasteful. It doesn’t deter me from buying these breeches.

Can we go back to talking about basics for a minute?

I think every equestrian knows that you really can’t go wrong with a polo tucked into a pair of breeches. It’s a classic equestrian look.

I like the holes on the shoulders too. For added breathability and for making it look just a little bit different from every other polo on the market.

Polos always make an outfit look so clean and put together. I would wear this during my lessons just to give me that little boost of confidence.

This polo comes in white and navy. Though I think a black option would really show off those hole details, I’m not terribly upset about the two colours they chose. They’re basic. Which means that they can work with anything. I could easily see this white polo tucked into a pair of brightly coloured high wasted shorts for an effortless summer look. You could even pair them with a bright pair of breeches if you wanted to play around with colour in your equestrian wardrobe. But you could also pair both polos with your classic beige breeches and look instantly put together.

Aix Teddy Jacket

Okay, I know that I just said that I don’t like clothing with big logos on them. I still stand by what I said. But hear me out on this one. The logo stitched along the back of the jacket matches the letterman style that Harcour was inspired by. So it makes sense to have their name on the back. Just like you might have the name of the team stitched on the back of a letterman.

Though my style isn’t super sporty, I do like the Aix Teddy. And the way it’s styled in these pictures is pretty much how I would style it too. Would I wear this jacket to the barn? Probably not. But I would wear this while I running errands or out shopping. A jacket like this is sometimes all you need to upgrade the look of your basic jeans and tee. No effort involved.

The Aix Teddy comes in both navy and red. So you can choose just how much of a statement you wanted to make. I personally would choose the navy because I’m not that bold. But the red is just as nice and will definitely turn some heads!

So there you have it. These are just some of the items that I like from the Harcour collection. I’ve also included some more honourable mentions below because there are just so many things that caught my eye!

I’m such a fan of equestrian brands that are inspired by today’s fashion. It’s nice to see designers creating pieces that are both functional for our sport and fashionable. I don’t think we need to compromise one or the other if we don’t have to.
