Aztec Diamond Equestrian Summer Collection- New Release for 2019

Aztec Diamond Equestrian just released their summer collection for 2019 and it has some pieces that have definitely caught my eye.

Let's look at this collection together and see what's new for this brand.

If you've been following Pure Horse Sense for a little while, then you know that I reviewed the Aztec Diamond Equestrian breeches. I love them. The more I ride in them, the more they stand out from the pack. For their price point, I have yet to find a pair that competes with them.

Seriously.

They're even better than my Tailored Sportsman breeches that I recently bought. Other than their colour selection TS really doesn’t compare to AD. The Aztec Diamond breeches have so much thought put into them for their functionality and their style. Definitely worth their money.

But anyway, let's get into the new stuff.

The Leggings

They have updated their leggings! I’ll be honest, I’m not a huge leggings girl. Regardless if they’re riding leggings or yoga leggings (I know, I’m probably one of the few!). But these leggings are quite nice. They look like they’d be super flattering. The stitching seems to be at the perfect places to flatter your body instead of chopping you off awkwardly.

They come in either black, grey, navy or burgundy. The leggings even have a pocket for your phone which is quite handy. They do mention that these leggings have a “subtle inner knee silicone griping system” which, to me, means that they’ll be similar to the breeches. If you’re used to a whole lot of grip to your riding breeches or leggings, then they’ll probably not be what you’re looking for. If they’re anything like my navy breeches. They don’t really stick to the saddle. It’s not something that I personally look for in my riding pants, but it’s a good thing to keep in mind.

I’d be curious to see just how lightweight these leggings are. Their breeches are pretty light and breathable as it is (you definitely need to layer something under them in the snowy, winter months). But for those super hot days when the breeches are just too heavy, I’d be curious to know if these would keep you cool enough to focus on your ride.

The Base Layers

This is the part of the collection that really catches my eye. I’m not going to lie, I’m a bit disappointed that they discontinued the previous base layers. I’ve been eyeing them for a while wondering if I should take the plunge and order a colour (especially the teal colour). They were just so bright and fun. It’s something that I think is missing for the equestrian wardrobe. Although the new ones are also very eye catching, they aren’t as bright as the others. They now come in black, grey, burgundy, navy, white, nude, blue and pink. The ones that I’m drawn to from the new collection are the blue, grey and navy. Maybe the pink… if I’m feeling adventurous.

As with all Aztec Diamond Equestrian clothing, the stitching on these base layers make them flattering to the figure. I really like the high neck line and the quarter zip too. According to their description; they are stretchy, temperature regulating and breathable. You could also use them as layering piece in the cooler months, making them worth their price point even more.

I’d be curious to know how they would feel on since they do look like they sit snug to your skin. I’d like to know if they feel tight or if they feel almost like a second skin.

The Lightweight Jackets

We’re quickly leaving the temperatures of light jackets behind here in Ontario, Canada. This would have been a great addition to my closet about a month ago. Both in and out of the barn. But if you’re not quite reaching the summer temperatures where you live or you’re looking for a light jacket for the early mornings and late nights at the barn, this might be something for you.

The design, like always, is great. The shape and stitching are well thought out. Though only in two colours (black and navy), I think that they’ll pair beautifully with anything in your existing wardrobe. I’m not going to lie though; I would have liked to have a grey version of this jacket. The lightweight jacket is easily something that you could wear running errands in the city or grooming your horse at the barn.

The Technical T-Shirts and Show Shirts

I won’t talk about these for too long as, personally, I think that the shirts are the least exciting part of the Summer collection. Whether you’re looking at the show shirts or the technical t-shirts, they look like they would be breathable for when you’re riding in warmer temperatures.

The t-shirts aren’t anything special. They come in black, grey, burgundy and navy. They have the Aztec Diamond Equestrian name on the front making them more of a logo tee while still being a flattering fit. I think that if you’re a fan of Aztec Diamond and you’re in need of a new technical shirt, then these might be right up your alley.

The show shirts seem like they would be a nice option under your jacket. Though, in all honesty, I’m a bit more traditional when it comes to my show shirts. I prefer a button down over a zipper. Depending on what discipline or level you’re riding at, you also might not think that they’re appropriate to wear into the ring. I think that they look too casual (personally). Now, if they had made them short sleeved versions of the base layers, I’d be all over these. I’d buy them and wear them at the barn in a heartbeat. But because they’re marketed as show shirts; I sadly have to give these a pass.

The Young Riders

I love that Aztec Diamond Equestrian doesn't just nod at the existence of young riders. They actually design things to work for them without looking to childish. Because these young riders should be taken seriously. I mean, have you seen some of these kids in the ring?!

Granted, they grow out of their clothes way too quickly. So, you may not want to spend a whole lot of money. But they still want to look like they belong at the barn. I think that this collection has done just that. It's still serious and keeps the flattering design of the adult line while working with the young rider's body shape. It's perfect!

Overall Thoughts

If you're looking for a few new things to add to your riding wardrobe, I suggest that you look into the new Summer collection from Aztec Diamond Equestrian. If you have yet to try anything from the brand, I can personally say that I enjoy riding in their breeches and think that the price is fair for what you are getting.

As for the new collection, the things that I'm drawn to are the base layers and the lightweight jackets. I am thinking of purchasing another pair of breeches soon and I might just add a few other things to my cart...

I'd love to know if you guys are excited about Aztec Diamond Equestrian's Summer collection for 2019. Will you be buying anything from their line? I'd love to know!

Until next time, happy riding!
